Pinters ("we", "us", "our") makes a social app for sharing drinks with friends. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].

1. Information we collect

  • Account details — name, username, email, phone number, password (hashed), date of birth, and profile photo when you sign up.
  • Content you post — pint photos, captions, reactions, comments, group messages, and other content you create in the app.
  • Social graph — friends, groups, and people you interact with.
  • Device info — device model, OS version, app version, push notification token, and approximate region derived from IP.
  • Usage data — feature interactions, crash logs, and diagnostic events used to keep the app working.
  • Optional data — location (if you tag a pub), camera and photo library access (only when you post).

2. How we use it

  • Run the core features — feed, reactions, chats, groups, leaderboards.
  • Send push notifications when mates react, cheers, or message you. You can disable these in your device settings.
  • Keep the service safe — moderation, abuse prevention, spam detection.
  • Improve the product — debug crashes, measure feature use, fix performance issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. How we share it

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Other users — content you post is visible to the audience you choose (friends, group, or public profile fields).
  • Service providers — Amazon Web Services (image and database hosting), Apple and Google (push notifications, app distribution), and analytics tooling. They process data only on our instructions.
  • Legal — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and property.

4. Data retention & account deletion

We keep account data while your account is active. You can delete your account from Settings inside the app, or read the full process at pinters.app/account-deletion.

When you delete your account, it is locked immediately and scheduled for permanent removal 30 days later. You can cancel the deletion by signing in during that window. After 30 days, your profile, photos, push tokens, and personal records are permanently removed. Messages you posted in groups with other members are retained but anonymized (your name is replaced with "Deleted user" and your photos are deleted) so other members' conversation history is preserved.

An anonymized audit record (hashed user id only) is retained for legal, security, and fraud-prevention purposes. Encrypted backups roll off within 90 days.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (UK, EU, California, etc.) you may have rights to:

  • Access a copy of your data.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Port your data to another service.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

Email [email protected] to exercise any of these. We respond within 30 days.

6. Children

Pinters is for adults of legal drinking age in their country (18+ in the UK and most of the EU, 21+ in the US). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has signed up, email us and we'll remove the account.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures — encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and isolated infrastructure — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will notify you in line with applicable law.

8. International transfers

Our servers and service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or by email. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.

10. Contact

Questions, requests, or complaints: [email protected].
