You can permanently delete your Pinters account at any time. This page explains how, what gets removed, and the 30-day grace period.
Delete from the app
- Open Pinters and sign in.
- Go to Settings (the gear icon).
- Tap Delete account (red text near the bottom).
- Read the warning, confirm what will happen, and enter your password.
- Type your username to enable the final button and confirm.
You'll be signed out immediately. Your account is now scheduled for deletion.
What gets deleted
- Your profile (name, email, phone, password, profile photo).
- All photos you uploaded (deleted from our storage).
- Your reactions, push-notification tokens, and login sessions.
- Any groups where you are the sole member.
What stays (anonymized)
- Messages you posted in groups with other members — the text remains so other people's conversation history is preserved, but your name is replaced with "Deleted user" and your photos are removed.
- Groups you owned with other members — ownership transfers to the longest-standing other member; you are removed from the membership list.
- An audit record (hashed, no personal data) is kept for legal and fraud-prevention purposes.
30-day grace period
When you tap Delete, your account is locked immediately — nobody can access it. The actual data purge runs 30 days later. During that window you can sign in with your old password and choose Cancel deletion to fully restore your account. After 30 days, deletion is irreversible.
Backups
For security and disaster-recovery reasons we keep encrypted backups for up to 90 days. Your data is removed from these backups as they roll off — we cannot extract individual records from a backup snapshot.
Can't access the app?
If you've lost access to your device or account, email [email protected] from the address on your account. Include:
- Your account email or username.
- Whether you want to delete or restore the account.
We respond within 30 days, as required by GDPR. Verifying account ownership may take a few extra steps if you no longer have the device.
